Fastening down the All Aboard panels and Gargraves Track.

My Gargraves track is fastened to the panels with screws that are the same color as the ties. My layout is designed to be semi-permanent, so  my panels are screwed to the plywood table underneath. I put the screws where ever most needed to get the panels to lay flat. I try and put screws under houses, or at the bottom of the holes that hold street lamp and signs. These holes are deeper than need be, and you can put a small screw in the bottom of them, and still have enough clearance for your sign.

My panels are screwed to particle board.

Notice in the lower left hand corner the wood layer that is below the All Aboard panels. This is a piece of inexpensive particle board that is just resting on an old kitchen table. This gives me a good flat surface for the panels rest on and be screwed to.

I have assembled layouts in two manners, one in which I actually fastened track, panel by panel, much like the original pikemaster track. The track is fastened with machine screws and nylok type nuts beneath the panel.

The second way, was to fasten the panels down to the table, and then lay the track afterwards, fastening the track by threading the proper size screws to grab onto the existing panel holes. This is nice, because if you have two straight sections next to each other, you can use a single piece of track if you like, and eliminate an extra track joint. I like to reduce the clatter.
